The Crushing Iron Podcast has aired twice a week for over 8 years. The co-hosts met in 2012 when Mike decided to do his first Ironman. The consistency has helped build an awesome community and a series of 30+ camps that have connected new friends from all over the country.
Mike and Robbie learned early on that the podcast couldn’t be “only” about triathlon and have weaved discussions about life throughout each of the over 800 podcasts. Both have struggled with addiction, ego, and other crippling mindsets and address all topics openly. Their conversational tone is laid back and listeners often describe it as being in a room with two close friends.
While they’ve had a select list of guests, including: Mike Reilly, Brad Stulberg, Andrew Starykocwicz, Steve Magness, and Steve Delmonte, the podcast is generally a conversation between two guys that are passionate about triathlon and live it on a daily basis.
There are deep dives into technical aspects, like the 10 part series, “How to not suck at swimming,” along with open explorations like “Finding Your Why” that look at ways to crystalize your reasons for doing the sport and how that makes it more enjoyable.
The podcast is a casual format with consistency and has built an audience with millions of downloads through word of mouth alone. The guys have never had advertisers and are committed to building a strong community of positive and inspiring people who want to be better in triathlon and life.
